EVENTERS, the equestrian triathletes...the beauty of dressage, the heart and bravery of cross country, and the precision of show jumping. Support my horses and me in our dreams to ride at the upper levels of the sport and successfully teach and train other riders and horses!
A good weekend in Tennessee--a learning experience and some ribbons brought home. Congratulations to Syd and Gim for their 6th place in Novice and Kristin and Radar for their 7th place in Novice and Erica for her 5th place on Scotch in Beginner Novice.
Nikole and Ditto went to Virginia HT and had a great Novice run. They finished in 6th place on their dressage score!
All the Novice kids are moving up to Training at their next trial: IEA.

Spring Happenings and our First 3-Star!Easter Weekend saw Deacon and I at The Fork Horse Trials running Advanced. I was pretty happy with his dressage test. Our XC run went very well, except for the jump combination when a little bug flew in my eye over A, so I couldn't see to get my line to B, a corner. Drat! But everything else was great. Deacon had a super showjump round, one of just a few clear rounds in the division. He was wonderful!
Finn ran in the preliminary division and had one stop on XC also, but again a clear SJ round. I've been trying to figure out what's up with him.
Finn's next outing was at River Glen. I was hoping for a bit easier go for him, but he had 2 stops. So I've been reviewing all the problems he's had on XC recently to determine what the problem might be and have made some tack changes and had some vet/chiro work done. So it was onward to Virginia for him to see if the changes helped.
Meanwhile, Deacon went to Jersey Fresh to run the CIC 3*. He had an awesome run, finishing 7th in the division. I was very happy with him in all phases.
Then it was on to Virginia for Finny; the CCI 1*. Even though he had a stop on XC this run, it was a much different stop than everything recently; a bit my fault--not quite enough power to clear a trakehner coming downhill; and he saved my butt a few times on course! He was a very good boy. So the tack changes and physical changes seem to have helped. His dressage was great; one of his more relaxed tests. His showjumping was good, but it was his first time jumping indoors in the coliseum there! He was a bit overwhelmed by it all. At the end of the day, I was very happy with his performance in all phases and look forward to our next outing. Both boys are on a break for a few weeks; time for all of us to have a breather!
Thomas:
The Sale HorseThomas had a great run at Virginia Horse Trials, finishing in first place in his Novice Horse division. He had a very steady, relaxed dressage test, and ended up finishing on that score! Yeah, Thomasito!
This horse will make a great eventer. I love riding him, even though he's not tall, he's powerful and has a wonderful canter. He will easily go at least up to Prelim and would make a great Young Rider or Amateur horse.
